Kungfuland is an upcoming martial arts comedy feature film and the first official Singapore–Canada scripted co-production. Directed by Jacen Tan and written by Jacen Tan, Andrew Ngin, and Maninder Chana, the film stars Idrissa Sanogo Bamba, Ellen Wong, Dion Johnstone, and Hugh Tran, with a special cameo by Hong Kong martial arts legend David Chiang. Produced by Ajacent Media (Singapore) and 100 Dragons (Canada), the film was created using Virtual Production technology at AUX Infinite Studios, bringing together an international cast and crew in a collaboration that pays tribute to classic 1970s kung fu cinema. As a Studio Assistant, I supported the production by preparing and setting up the virtual production stage, helped being a stand-in during technical rehearsals, and had the opportunity to appear as an extra in the film.

Working on Kungfuland gave me the opportunity to observe how a large-scale international feature film production is executed within a virtual production environment. Throughout the project, I interacted with cast members, production crew, technical specialists, and industry professionals from different departments, allowing me to gain a better understanding of how each team contributes to the overall production. I was involved in preparing the studio for filming by assisting with camera calibration, ensuring the tracking system functioned properly, and making sure the studio was clean, safe, and ready for production. Through these experiences, I learnt the importance of preparation, teamwork, communication, and attention to detail, as even small issues can affect the filming process. The project also gave me valuable insight into how virtual production technology is integrated into feature filmmaking and strengthened my understanding of professional on-set workflows.
